Sam Fender's 2027 tour dates leave suspicious gap for Glastonbury
Sam Fender tour gap fuels Glastonbury 2027 speculation

Sam Fender has announced a major UK stadium tour for 2027, and the schedule features a notable gap that has sparked fresh speculation about a Glastonbury headline slot. The 32-year-old musician, reportedly preparing to headline the festival next summer, unveiled his Proper Massive Stadium Tour, which includes his biggest headline shows to date.

The tour begins with two hometown shows at Newcastle's St James' Park on June 3 and 5, followed by Cardiff's Principality Stadium on June 10. He will then perform two shows at London's Wembley Stadium on June 18 and 20. After that, his next confirmed date is July 1 at Dublin's Marlay Park, leaving an 11-day gap in his schedule.

Glastonbury speculation intensifies

This gap conveniently aligns with Glastonbury, which traditionally takes place over the final weekend of June. While an empty calendar is not confirmation of a Pyramid Stage booking, it adds to existing rumours about Fender's involvement. Earlier this month, The Mail on Sunday reported that Fender had been booked to headline the festival, with a source claiming he was thrilled and had been sharing the news with his neighbours.

Glastonbury organisers have not confirmed the reports, although festival boss Emily Eavis has stated that all three headliners for 2027 have already been secured. If the rumours are true, it would be a significant milestone for Fender, who had to cancel a planned Glastonbury appearance in 2019 due to illness. He eventually performed on the Pyramid Stage in 2022, ahead of headliner Billie Eilish.

Other rumoured headliners

Fender is not the only artist linked to Glastonbury 2027. Bon Jovi have been tipped for a headline slot after announcing a performance at BST Hyde Park on June 24. Bookmaker Coral has cut the band's odds of appearing at Worthy Farm from 8/1 to 2/1. Other names linked to the event include Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Eminem and Chappell Roan.

Tickets for Glastonbury 2027 sold out within minutes, despite no confirmed line-up. Fender's tour also includes a headline slot at Belgium's Rock Werchter festival on July 3, followed by shows at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on July 8 and two nights at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on July 15 and 17. British alternative rock band Wunderhorse will support him on all UK stadium dates.

Ticket details and upcoming album

The tour announcement comes ahead of Fender's fourth studio album, with fans able to pre-order the record to access a ticket presale. Registration for presale access closes at 9am on Monday, October 26. Presale codes will be distributed on Tuesday, October 27, ahead of the presale opening at 9.30am on Wednesday, October 28. Tickets go on general sale at 9.30am on Friday, October 30.

Whether the gap in Fender's schedule means a detour to Worthy Farm remains unconfirmed, and fans will have to wait for the official Glastonbury line-up to find out.
