Fans of the hit BBC show The Repair Shop have rushed to send their best wishes to one of its most cherished experts after he announced a festive career break. Julyan Wallis, the programme's resident guitar restoration specialist, shared the news with his followers on social media.
Guitar Doctor Takes a Winter Holiday
In a post from his business, The Guitar Doctor, Wallis informed clients and fans of his upcoming closure. "I will be closed over the festive season from December 13th and back on January 2nd/5th onwards," he wrote. He urged those needing last-minute work to contact him swiftly, adding a playful "Alert!" to his message about the Cornwall-based repairs service.
The announcement was met with an immediate wave of support from the show's community. Fellow Repair Shop expert Sonnaz Nooranvary was among the first to respond, commenting: "That's my kind of break, Jules. Have a great Christmas and New Year!"
Viewers quickly echoed this sentiment. One supporter wrote, "You definitely deserve a holiday, Jules," while others shared messages like "Have a great Christmas and New Year, Julyan. All the best wishes" and "Have a nice Christmas and New Year, mate."
Not Alone in Taking a Step Back
Julyan Wallis is not the only expert from the beloved series taking time off as the year ends. Both Richard Talman, the jewellery conservator, and Brenton West, the clock and music box restorer, have recently confirmed they have finished filming for 2025.
Last month, Richard Talman posted a touching video tribute to the crew, marking the end of his filming schedule. "Today marks the end of my filming for 2025!" he stated, expressing gratitude to the "wonderful crew and producers of Ricochet Productions who make the show possible."
Brenton West also shared his departure from the barn for the winter. "My time filming at The Repair Shop barn has come to an end for 2025, just as the mud and cold weather arrives," he said. He extended thanks to the hard-working behind-the-scenes team, adding he was "looking forward to a winter break."
A Well-Deserved Rest for BBC Favourites
The announcements highlight the demanding schedule the experts maintain and the warm rapport they share with their audience. The public's enthusiastic response to Julyan Wallis's break underscores the deep affection viewers hold for the craftspeople who bring cherished heirlooms back to life.
While the experts enjoy their holidays, fans can still catch up with past episodes. The Repair Shop is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
