The Next Generation Takes the Stage

Astile Doherty, the 22-year-old son of indie rock icons Pete Doherty and Lisa Moorish, is stepping out of his parents' shadow to forge his own musical career. The young artist made his debut with his band, Another Day, at London's legendary 100 Club this week, marking a significant moment for the latest member of Britain's rock royalty.

A Intimate Gig with Famous Connections

During Wednesday's intimate performance, Astile showcased his diverse talents, banging a tambourine and reading two original poems to the audience. His poem 'Sunshine In Her Eyes' featured lyrics including: 'It would be nice if the sun was shining bright, what an actual delight, it's not wrong, it's right.' The performance took a family turn when he invited his famous mother, Kill City singer Lisa Moorish, to join him on stage.

While Astile is carving his own path, his family legacy looms large. His father, The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty, became a household name with massive hits like 'Can't Stand Me Now' and 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' during the indie/rock explosion of the Noughties.

A Complicated Family History

Astile's birth in 2003 came after his parents met during The Libertines' 2002 tour. His early childhood was marked by his father's well-documented struggles with addiction, which initially prevented Pete from seeing his son. Lisa Moorish revealed to Metro in 2009: 'Peter has on-and-off problems with his recovery so it was a really difficult decision to make... But when he came out of rehab last year, and started to get his life in order I thought the time was right. I want Astile to have a dad.'

Pete himself acknowledged his responsibilities, stating: 'When I can claim to have any sort of control over my own life, I'm going to take some responsibility for Astile. I love the little fella.' The rocker has since transformed his life, getting clean and becoming a more present father.

The family connections extend beyond his immediate parents. Astile has a half-sister, Molly, 27, whom his mother shares with Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher. Pete Doherty also has a daughter, Aisling, with model Lindi Hingston, and recently welcomed another daughter, Billie-May, with his current wife and Puta Madres bandmate Katia De Vidas in May 2023.

What's Next for the Emerging Artist

Astile's musical journey is gaining momentum with Another Day scheduled to support Pete Doherty's band Babyshambles next month in Nottingham and Middlesbrough. His stepmother, Katia De Vidas, has shown support for his career, promoting his music events on her social media platforms.

As Astile continues to develop his artistic voice, he follows in the footsteps of not one but two legendary musicians while attempting to establish his own unique identity in Britain's competitive music scene.
