Olly Murs Admits 'Tough' Struggle Balancing Newborn Son and Music Career
Olly Murs on 'tough' time away from newborn son Albert

Chart-topping singer Olly Murs has candidly revealed the emotional challenge of balancing his resurgent music career with being a present father to his newborn son, Albert.

Juggling Stardom and Fatherhood

Speaking to Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Breakfast this Monday, the 41-year-old artist confessed the past few weeks have been particularly difficult. With his new album, 'Knees Up', launching last week and a Christmas single on the horizon, promotional duties have kept him away from home during a precious family time.

Murs explained the strain it has placed on home life, telling the hosts: 'The last few weeks I’ve said to Amelia it’s been really tough.' He detailed the relentless schedule, stating, 'Because my album came out last week so I’ve been promoting that, then obviously this, and now I’ve got a Christmas song coming.'

A Promise for More Family Time

The 'Troublemaker' singer has made a firm commitment to his wife, bodybuilder Amelia Tank, to rectify the work-life imbalance in the coming year. The couple, who tied the knot in July 2023, are also parents to a 19-month-old daughter, Madison, and welcomed their son, Albert, in September 2024.

Olly shared the promise he made to Amelia, saying: 'I did say to her "I promise you darling it is going to be a bit more quieter next year and I’m going to be around a lot more and then you’re gonna hate me even more".' This vow follows previous guilt he felt after leaving home just 48 hours after Amelia gave birth to Madison to support Take That on tour, an experience he said left him in tears.

Public Praise for an 'Unbelievable' Wife

Murs's admiration for his wife was publicly displayed last month when Amelia shared a powerful post celebrating her postpartum body. In a black-and-white Instagram clip, she cradled baby Albert while thanking her body for 'carrying life twice'.

Olly was quick to shower her with support in the comments, writing: 'Two beautiful kids, one unbelievable, incredible wife x I'm a lucky lucky man xx'. Amelia's caption expressed pride in her current self and looked forward to regaining fitness 'when the time's right'.

As Olly Murs navigates the demands of fame and a young, growing family, his heartfelt admissions highlight the universal struggle of modern parenting, even under the glare of the spotlight.
