Singer Nicole Scherzinger has responded with trademark humour after a clip of a man sleeping soundly during her performance went viral online. The incident occurred at her highly anticipated debut at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles last Thursday.
A Front Row Snooze
Despite a captivating show from the 47-year-old former Pussycat Doll, one audience member in the front row was captured on camera completely asleep, his mouth wide open. Rather than taking offence, Scherzinger chose to see the lighter side, resharing the video on social media with a playful query.
"What is this a sign to drop a lullaby album," she joked. Her post quickly attracted comments from fans and fellow artists, including fellow songstress Natasha Bedingfield, who quipped: "I would definitely play that every night."
Other fans joined in the fun, with one noting, "You gave this man…new ways to dream," while another praised, "tbf you do sound exceptionally soothing here." The general consensus online was one of amusement and admiration for Scherzinger's good-natured response.
Addressing Recent Controversy
This light-hearted moment comes shortly after Scherzinger addressed a separate incident where she was reportedly branded a 'diva' for keeping fans waiting. Earlier this month, attendees at her Royal Albert Hall show claimed the star was an hour late to the stage for a performance with no support acts and a billed 7.30pm start.
Some disgruntled fans, who had paid up to £150 for tickets, reportedly left early after she sang just six songs before the interval. Scherzinger has since expressed her dismay, stating she was "devastated and horrified" to learn people had been waiting so long.
"It wasn't until after I was done that I found out people had been sitting there for so long," she explained. "I would be frustrated as well if I were told to sit there for so long... I thought my show was due to start at 8pm." She concluded by thanking the audience for staying, noting that by the end, they were "all up on their feet dancing with me."
New Film Project on the Horizon
On a more positive note, Scherzinger's career continues to thrive with the announcement that she will be joining the cast of Rebel Wilson's upcoming film, Girl Group. The comedy, which Wilson will write, produce, and star in, is being billed as the "ultimate girl power movie."
The star-studded cast features an array of music icons, including Spice Girls' Melanie C, All Saints' Shaznay Lewis, and Scherzinger's own Pussycat Dolls bandmate Ashley Roberts, alongside actress Sheridan Smith.
The plot will see Rebel Wilson play a pop diva who is kicked out of her group's reunion tour and sentenced to community service. Wilson teased the project, saying, "Ever since being a part of the Pitch Perfect franchise, I've always wanted to create something similar. Girl Group is just so fun and full of spirit that's ready to have you singing and dancing out of the cinema."
