Music icon Morrissey has been forced to cancel another performance at the last minute, this time in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday night. The 66-year-old former frontman of The Smiths pulled out of the concert just hours before he was scheduled to take the stage, citing ongoing health concerns.
Latest Cancellation and Statement
Promoters for the event took to social media to announce the sudden cancellation. In a brief statement, they confirmed that the show scheduled for January 17, 2026, at 8 PM was called off due to artist illness. The message stressed that the decision was made 'on medical advice' and 'in the interest of the artist's wellbeing.'
All ticket purchases will be refunded automatically at the original point of purchase, with refunds expected to process within 7-10 business days. No further details about the nature of Morrissey's illness were disclosed.
A Troubled Start to 2026
This latest cancellation is part of a distressing pattern for the singer's 2026 tour schedule. He had already axed his first two gigs of the year due to what was described as 'extreme exhaustion.'
Subsequently, a show at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California, was postponed after Morrissey suffered an 'adverse reaction to a prescription medication.' A concert in San Diego the following evening was also cancelled.
The most recent image from a performance on his official Instagram page dates from a gig in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. A scheduled show in St. Louis on Thursday also appears to have been affected.
A History of Recent Disruptions
The singer's touring plans have faced multiple hurdles over recent months. In late 2025, he pulled out of a series of dates across South America, including concerts in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago, Lima, and Bogota between November 8 and November 22. Just prior to that, two shows in Mexico were cancelled for similar reasons.
Other cancellations have stemmed from different causes. In October, shows in Turkey were called off following a backlash against his public support for Israel. Furthermore, in September, gigs in Connecticut and Boston were scrapped after a 'credible threat' to assassinate him on stage was identified, leading to an abundance of caution for the safety of the artist and his audience.
As fans await further updates on his health and rescheduled dates, Morrissey's current tour remains in a state of significant uncertainty.
