Michael McIntyre guest overcomes panic to wow with Adele song

Viewers of Michael McIntyre's Big Show were taken on an emotional rollercoaster during Saturday's episode, as an unsuspecting guest was left momentarily overwhelmed before delivering a breathtaking musical performance.

The Unexpected Star's Shocking Reveal

The hit BBC series returned for its ninth season with its popular Unexpected Star segment. The feature involves a member of the public being brought to the theatre under false pretences, completely unaware they are about to become the star of the show.

On this occasion, the spotlight fell on Sam, a 44-year-old Quantity Surveyor from Torquay. He was convinced by his best friend Steve that they were on a historic pub tour of London. The elaborate ruse included staged encounters with celebrities like Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch in the first pub.

From Panic to Performance

The surprise unfolded when Sam was led to what he believed was "the smallest pub in London". Told that a bullseye with a dart would win him a free drink, he took aim. Instantly, the entire wall fell away, revealing he was actually standing on the stage of Michael McIntyre's Big Show in front of a live audience of thousands.

The shock left Sam visibly emotional. Wiping away a tear, he struggled to compose a sentence, telling host Michael McIntyre he felt "overwhelmed". McIntyre expressed concern, asking if he was going to be sick, to which Sam admitted, "I'm struggling breathing to be fair."

After a moment of recovery backstage, Sam returned to deliver his performance. He chose to sing Adele's powerful ballad 'Easy On Me', stunning the theatre with his impressive vocal talent and composure.

Viewer Reaction and a Dream Fulfilled

Following his performance, an elated Sam said, "I feel amazing, amazing, just thank you so much. To come and sing in a theatre like this, it's like a lifelong dream. It's been fantastic."

The audience and viewers at home were equally moved. On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), fans rushed to praise his ability. One viewer exclaimed, "BLIMEY - unexpected star of the show #bigshow singing @Adele", while another posted, "WOWZERS!!! #Sam @McInTweet #BigShow What a voice!!!!!!"

Michael McIntyre's Big Show continues on Saturday nights on BBC One.
