Paul McCartney has shed light on why The Beatles never reunited after their acrimonious split in 1970, despite a brief reconciliation with John Lennon. In a recent interview, McCartney confirmed that the four band members were never all together again following the break-up.
McCartney and Lennon had a public feud after the band dissolved, trading jibes through their solo songs. However, they later reconciled and rekindled their friendship. McCartney said he felt 'blessed' they made amends before Lennon's tragic death in 1980.
According to Lennon's former lover May Pang, there were concrete plans for a reunion in the 1970s. Pang revealed that Lennon considered reuniting the band, with a loose plan for a concert in upstate New York in autumn 1974. Another plan involved Lennon visiting McCartney in New Orleans to write together, but Lennon returned to his wife Yoko Ono instead.
McCartney's comments confirm that despite the plans, the full reunion never materialised. The Beatles' legacy remains intact, with their music continuing to inspire generations.
