Westlife star Mark Feehily has shared a rare update on his health following a life-threatening battle with sepsis, confirming he is well enough to return to work with a new radio show on RTE Radio 1.
The 45-year-old singer, who left Westlife in 2024 due to his health struggles, will host a programme three times a week on Ireland's most-listened-to radio station. His shows are set to air on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
In an Instagram post, Feehily said: "My body and my mind need time. However, thankfully, sitting in a chair to do a radio show is a completely different physical and mental demand to doing a massive world tour and I feel very lucky to be able to do this new @rteradio1 show." He added that doing nothing would make things worse both medically and emotionally.
Feehily, from Sligo, Ireland, spent months in intensive care after developing sepsis in 2020 following routine surgery. He later suffered pneumonia and has undergone four major surgeries to address complications. Sepsis can lead to multiple organ failure and death if not treated quickly.
Westlife's 25th anniversary tour begins in September 2026 in Aberdeen and runs until November, with dates in Belgium, Holland, Norway and Denmark. Feehily will not join bandmates Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne on the tour as he continues his recovery.
