Lewis Capaldi has confirmed that his upcoming performance at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball in London will be his last UK and Ireland gig for some time. The Scots singer, 30, revealed he 'needs to go away' to focus on making new music.
Last gig for a while
The Someone You Loved star is due to perform at the event with Barclay Card at the O2 in London on Saturday, December 5. Speaking to Capital FM this morning (Nov 4), Capaldi said the show will be his last for well over a year.
It comes less than two years after Lewis made a surprise return to the spotlight last summer on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. The star, who lives with Tourette's Syndrome, previously took a two-year break from music after his 2023 performance at the music festival saw him struggling to finish his set.
Return and new music
He returned to the stage in June last year and has since released new music, been on a worldwide tour in 2025 and headlined a series of 2026 festivals across the UK this summer. This time, however, Lewis is taking a break to focus on making new music.
Addressing his upcoming London gig, Capaldi told Capital FM: "It'll be my last gig for I'd say a good year and a bit. I need to go away and make new music and stuff so it feels like a nice fitting sort of tip of the cap."
Fan reaction and line-up
Reacting to the news, one fan wrote: "Our boy definitely deserves a break. Can't wait to hear the new tunes in the future Lewis!" A second commented: "Now I need to get my hands on some tickets if this is the last live performance for over a year."
Capaldi's break comes as he has been spending a lot of time in New York this summer. The star even delighted fans with a surprise pop-up gig at Penn Station in the Big Apple earlier this year.
Capaldi will be joined by other acts across the two-day Jingle Bell Ball with Barclay Card line-up in December, including Tinie Tempah, Teddy Swims, Becky Hill, Jorja Smith, Aitch and Celebrity Traitors' star Bash Croft. The event will take place across the weekend of the 5th and 6th of December.
