Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has made a startling revelation in her new documentary, disclosing that another member of the iconic girl group attempted to quit before her own departure in 2020. The 34-year-old singer, who left the band citing mental health reasons, shared this bombshell in the six-part Prime Video series titled Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix.
Shocking Discovery in Band Meeting
In episode five of the documentary, Jesy recounts a pivotal meeting that took place before the COVID-19 pandemic. She describes having a gut feeling that the news would not be positive when the group was summoned. "When we were called into a meeting it's either something amazing or something really bad, and I just had this gut feeling that it wasn't going to be good," Jesy explained.
The meeting revealed that one of the singers had decided to leave Little Mix. "One of the girls had decided that they didn't want to be in the band anymore and I remember feeling like my whole world had just fell apart," Jesy recalled. She noted that she and bandmate Jade Thirlwall were particularly emotional, sharing that "it was just a really sad day and me and Jade really cried."
Planning the Final Tour
Following this revelation, the band began planning what would become their final tour together. Jesy detailed how the group responded to the impending departure: "After that we were like, 'Right we now need to put in a plan of what’s now going to happen' and so we planned our last tour, all the dates were set in for that, and that was it really. That was the last thing we were gonna do together as a band."
However, these plans were dramatically disrupted by the COVID-19 lockdowns, which forced the group apart and delayed the scheduled tour. "Lockdown prolonged everything so we wasn't allowed to do the tour when we were supposed to, unfortunately that is then when everything got messy," Jesy added.
Jesy's Own Departure
When Little Mix eventually returned to performing, Jesy found herself struggling with the pressures of fame and cruel online comments. Her mental health deteriorated significantly during this period, ultimately leading to her decision to leave the band for her wellbeing in December 2020.
Interestingly, Jesy admitted that at the time of the initial revelation about another member wanting to quit, she didn't empathize with her bandmate because the news came as such a shock. She has chosen not to disclose which Little Mix member attempted to leave first, though she indicated it wasn't Jade Thirlwall.
Documentary Focus
While the documentary primarily focuses on Jesy's pregnancy journey and the birth of her twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe in May 2025, this revelation about Little Mix's internal dynamics provides significant insight into the group's final years together. Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix is currently available for streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
