Rock star Ginger Wildheart has announced he has been diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL), a rare and aggressive cancer, and has chosen to refuse treatment. The 61-year-old frontman of The Wildhearts said he will 'die with dignity' and expects to have two to three years left.
In a statement on the band's website, Wildheart explained that during The Wildhearts' UK tour in December 2024, he experienced severe pain that forced him to take short breaks from the stage. Medical tests later confirmed the diagnosis. Despite the news, he remains positive and continues to write new material.
'I've lived the life of ten men and will die with dignity. Still got 2-3 years to say goodbye to everyone. And I'll be rocking until the very last moment. No misery please. Positivity all the way,' Wildheart wrote on his personal page.
The band confirmed that all upcoming gig commitments will be honoured, and Wildheart is also focusing on future solo projects. Fans have flooded social media with messages of support, praising his courage and outlook.
