Foo Fighters Announce One-Off 2026 Tasmania Show, Sparking Mainland Tour Hopes
Foo Fighters Confirm One-Off Tasmania Show for 2026

American rock giants Foo Fighters have confirmed a major one-off concert in Australia, setting their sights on Tasmania for a single stadium show in early 2026. The announcement has ignited excitement among fans, though many on the mainland are now pleading for a full-scale tour.

A Lone Date Down Under

The Dave Grohl-fronted band will perform at UTAS Stadium in Launceston on Saturday, 24 January 2026. This marks the group's first visit to Tasmania in over a decade, having last played the state at Hobart's Derwent Entertainment Centre back in 2015 during their Sonic Highways tour.

Promoter Frontier Touring and the band broke the news officially via Instagram on Wednesday morning. However, the cat was somewhat let out of the bag earlier in the week when fan account @FooFightersLive shared the concert artwork. Further teasing came from Frontier itself, which posted an image of a Foo Fighters billboard atop The Winston pub in Hobart, captioning it with a lyric from their song 'Asking For A Friend'.

Mainland Fans Voice Their Hopes

The announcement was met with immediate and enthusiastic responses from Australian followers, though a common theme quickly emerged. Numerous comments on the band's social media posts expressed a desire for shows in major mainland cities.

Fans directly appealed to the group, with posts such as 'What about the rest of Australia?' and 'Please come to Brisbane!!' Another added, 'Surely pop by Syd or Melbs!' while another fan pleaded with crying face emojis: 'Add more shows pleaseeee. Syd???? Bris?? C'mon guys.'

This Tasmanian event is not the first time the Foo Fighters have opted for a unique one-night performance in Australia. In 2022, they headlined a huge show at the 36,000-capacity GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, Victoria, a government-backed initiative to revive live music post-pandemic. They also played a one-off charity concert in Brisbane for flood relief in 2011.

Legacy and Ticket Details

Formed by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl in 1994, the Foo Fighters are one of rock's most decorated acts. They have won 15 Grammy Awards, including five for Best Rock Album, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, and have sold over 50 million albums globally. Their loyal Australian fanbase has purchased 1.8 million of those records.

General public tickets for the 'Take Cover Tasmania' show will go on sale at 4pm on Wednesday, 1 December. A Telstra Plus pre-sale begins at 12pm on Friday, 5 December, followed by a Frontier Members pre-sale at 1pm on Monday, 8 December.
