Pop superstar Dua Lipa has launched an exclusive culinary venture for her fans in Mexico City, opening a sold-out pop-up taqueria named La Dua to coincide with her concert series.
A Menu Inspired by Music
The British singer inaugurated the temporary taco shop on Monday, offering a specially curated menu to registered fans. Three signature tacos headline the offering, each drawing inspiration from her songs and albums. Patrons can order the pork rind Houdini Taco, the flank steak Taco Maria, or the cheesy beef barbecue Radical Optimism Taco.
Accompanying the food are drinks such as "Training Season Water" infused with cucumber and lemon, beer, and a lemon tequila margarita. The complete culinary experience is priced at 249 pesos, approximately £11 or $14.
Immediate Sell-Out and Fan Enthusiasm
Demand was exceptionally high, with the venue at Tacos Los Caramelos in the upscale Condesa neighbourhood selling out on its first day. Organisers anticipate serving around 800 diners daily until the pop-up closes on Friday.
"Dua Lipa is my favourite singer, so having these kinds of experiences is very good for all of us who are fans," said 26-year-old salesman Gerson Silis, who secured a spot last week. He attended La Dua on Monday before seeing her concert on Tuesday.
Each menu purchase included a gift bag containing napkins, a traditional taquero hat, and a 2026 calendar featuring Dua Lipa, designed to resemble classic calendars found in authentic Mexican taquerias. "I'm going to frame it, in my room," said 23-year-old Fernanda Reyes, who favoured the Radical Optimism Taco.
Blending Culture with Concert Tour
The initiative taps deeply into local culture. Data from Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reveals that 70% of Mexicans cite tacos as their favourite food, with over 90% consuming them at least weekly. Mexico City alone boasts more than 10,900 taquerias.
Javier Morales, the 33-year-old waiters' manager at the host venue Tacos Los Caramelos, explained the ethos: "The intention is that you feel sheltered by us, that you come for your taco, that you can live that experience and then eat it."
This culinary pop-up complements the singer's Radical Optimism tour, where she has a tradition of performing local cover songs. During her first concert in the Mexican capital on Monday night, Lipa performed "Bésame Mucho," a classic penned by Consuelo Velázquez, delivered in the style of famed Mexican crooner Luis Miguel.
