Cruz Beckham has shared a heartfelt musical tribute to the late Stone Roses bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, performing a cover of the band's classic track on Instagram.
A Musical Homage from the Beckham Son
The 20-year-old budding musician posted a video of himself confidently strumming an acoustic guitar and singing his rendition of The Stone Roses' 1989 hit 'Shoot You Down'. Dressed in a red graphic-print T-shirt and grey jogging bottoms, Cruz delivered a soulful performance that resonated with fans.
His post comes almost two weeks after the tragic news of Mani's death at the age of 63. The iconic bassist is understood to have died at his home in Heaton Moor, Stockport, after collapsing following a seizure. Despite an ambulance being called, he could not be revived.
Fans React and a Band Mourns
Followers quickly flocked to the comments section beneath Cruz's video to praise his talent. One admirer wrote, 'How beautiful, this Man has potential, a beautiful voice, the music is nice to hear in his voice,' while another added, 'Bangin song more of this lad x'.
The Stone Roses themselves paid an emotional tribute last month after Mani's brother, Greg, announced the sad passing on Facebook. The band's official X account shared a throwback photo, writing: 'RIP our wonderful brother Mani. The greatest bass player and friend we could ever have wished for. X'.
Lead singer Ian Brown, 62, also posted a simple but powerful message on his own page: 'Rest In Peace Mani'. The loss comes just two years after Mani's wife, Imelda Mounfield, died from cancer.
Cruz's Instagram Glimpses and Industry Connections
Elsewhere on his Instagram, Cruz offered other snapshots of his life. He posted a mirror selfie featuring his father, David Beckham, 50, alongside sports agent Dave Gardner and singer Marc Anthony.
He also shared a nostalgic throwback photo of his younger self, dated June 25, 2015, taken on a digital camera. These posts paint a picture of a young man immersed in both family and the entertainment world while forging his own path in music.
The tribute from Cruz Beckham underscores the enduring legacy of The Stone Roses and their bassist, Mani, whose influence continues to inspire new generations of musicians and fans alike.
