BTS Announce New Album 'ARIRANG' & 2026-27 World Tour After Hiatus
BTS Confirm New Album 'ARIRANG' and Massive World Tour

After a break of nearly four years, the global K-pop phenomenon BTS is poised for a monumental return to music. Their management company, BigHit Music, has officially confirmed the release of a new album and detailed plans for an extensive world tour, sending the fanbase known as ARMY into a frenzy.

The Comeback Details: Album and Exclusive Releases

On the morning of Thursday, 15 January 2026, BigHit Music made the long-awaited announcement via social media. The seven-member group – consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook – will release their fifth studio album, titled "ARIRANG," on 20 March 2026.

While full tracklists and artwork remain under wraps, a partnership with the retailer Target has been revealed. Starting at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the day of the announcement, fans were able to pre-order ten different exclusive vinyl editions of the album. For collectors, two special CD editions featuring collectible photocards were also made available.

The announcement follows a cryptic post earlier in the month from BigHit Music on X, which simply stated: "March 20 comeback confirmed." This aligns with hints dropped by the group in the summer of 2025, when they first teased a new album for spring 2026 and a subsequent world tour.

A Global Tour and the End of a Hiatus

In a separate but related announcement, BTS confirmed a massive world tour scheduled for 2026-2027. The tour is set to kick off in South Korea in April 2026 and run through to March 2027, encompassing over 70 dates across Asia, North and South America, Australia, and Europe. This marks their first headline tour since the 'Permission to Dance on Stage' series in 2021-22.

The extended break from group activities was primarily due to the members fulfilling South Korea's mandatory military service requirements. All able-bodied men in the country are required to serve, with exemptions not typically granted to K-pop stars.

The members enlisted in a tiered system to manage the hiatus. The oldest, Jin, was the first to enlist in late 2022 and the first to be discharged in June 2024. Rapper Suga, who served as a social service agent due to a prior shoulder injury, was the last member to complete his duties in June 2025, clearing the way for the group's full reunion.

What Comes Next for BTS and ARMY

The dual announcement of "ARIRANG" and the global tour solidifies 2026 as the year of BTS's official return as a complete group. The strategic rollout allows time for album promotion before the tour begins, ensuring fans have new music to experience live.

For the global ARMY, this news ends years of anticipation. The hiatus, though filled with successful solo projects from each member, has only heightened demand for new group material and performances. The scale of the planned tour suggests an understanding of this immense, pent-up demand, promising a celebratory return for one of the world's biggest musical acts.
