AC/DC Electrify Sydney With 21-Song Power Up Tour Spectacular
AC/DC Rock Sydney With Epic 21-Song Homecoming Show

Rock Titans AC/DC Deliver Unforgettable Hometown Performance

Following two triumphant nights in Melbourne, rock behemoths AC/DC made a spectacular return to their hometown of Sydney on Friday night, treating fans to a monumental performance at Accor Stadium that will be remembered for years to come.

Epic Setlist and Electrifying Energy

The legendary band delivered a gigantic 21-song setlist packed with their most iconic tracks, opening powerfully with their 1978 classic If You Want Blood (You've Got It). From the first chord to the final note, AC/DC held the adoring crowd in the palm of their hand, culminating in a explosive two-song encore featuring T.N.T and the triumphant For Those About to Rock We Salute You.

Founding guitarist Angus Young, 70, defied his years with breathtaking energy and rock and roll swagger, commanding the stage with his iconic strut and schoolboy uniform. For this hometown show, he swapped the bright red shorts and blazer from Melbourne for a deep purple ensemble, complete with a bright yellow schoolboy cap featuring a large 'A'.

Veteran Performers at Their Peak

Frontman Brian Johnson, 78, proved why he remains one of rock's most formidable voices, effortlessly belting out classic AC/DC tunes while sporting a sleeveless dark blue Harley-Davidson shirt that showed off his biceps, paired with classic black jeans and his trademark newsboy flat cap.

Expertly wielding his black Gibson SG guitar, Angus Young appeared completely in his element, running around the stage with abandon and delivering the kind of masterclass performance that has defined his career spanning over five decades.

Ecstatic Crowd Reaction

The Sydney audience lapped up every moment of the powerhouse performance, with photos capturing ecstatic fans beaming with pure rock and roll glee. Many concertgoers wore AC/DC-branded devil horns, adding to the electric atmosphere that permeated Accor Stadium throughout the evening.

Social media erupted with excitement following the show, with the band's "thank you, Sydney" Instagram post receiving overwhelming love from fans. Married At First Sight star Dean Wells declared the performance "outta control! Still the best rock band of all time," while another fan noted that "Brian sounded like he did 20 yrs ago & Angus puts any musician to shame with his energy."

One particularly moved fan commented: "Angus gave an absolute Masterclass. Lifetime memory. Bon would be proud of tonight's show."

Continuing Australian Tour

AC/DC are scheduled to perform their second Sydney show at Accor Stadium on November 25, before continuing their Australian tour with performances at:

  • BP Adelaide 500 Grand Final on November 30
  • Perth's Optus Stadium on December 4 and 8
  • Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium with two shows on December 14 and 18

The Power Up tour has already generated massive interest globally, with over two million tickets sold across Europe and North America, including ten sold-out shows in the United States alone.

Australian tour promoter Christo Van Egmond, whose father Garry promoted AC/DC's Australian tours for 40 years, emphasised the band's commitment to their fans: "AC/DC puts their fans ahead of everything else. They're perfectionists in every way and will always make sure each fan walks out with a big smile on their face."

Formed in Sydney in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, AC/DC have endured as one of rock music's most enduring acts. Following the tragic death of original lead singer Bon Scott from acute alcohol poisoning in 1980 at age 33, Brian Johnson was hired as his replacement. Rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young was diagnosed with dementia in 2014 and retired to a Sydney nursing home before passing away on November 18, 2017, at age 64.
