Netflix's The Trap: Psychological Thriller Fans Shouldn't Skip

Netflix has released The Trap, a six-part German-language psychological thriller that has already entered the streamer's most-watched list. The series is adapted from author Melanie Raabe's best-selling novel of the same name.

The show centres on successful writer Lisa Konrad, who remains tormented by witnessing her sister's murder. Due to this devastating event, Lisa has not left her home for over a decade.

Plot and Cast

The official synopsis reads: "But when she believes she recognises the killer on television, she sets out to trap him, using herself as bait."

The series was brought to the screen by the Emmy Award-winning team behind the German crime series Dear Child. German actress Friederike Becht stars as Lisa, with Matthias Brandt as publisher Norbert Rudow, Hans Low as journalist Robert Lenzen, and Malaya Stern Takeda as Lisa's assistant Yuma.

What's Next for Harlan Coben Fans

While The Trap offers a fresh thriller, there is more to anticipate from Harlan Coben, with two series expected next year. Netflix will adapt his novel The Woods for a second time, following the 2020 Polish adaptation, this time setting it in the UK. The series will centre on barrister Paul "Cope" Copeland, played by Tom Bateman, whose life was shattered when his sister disappeared two decades ago.

When a body is discovered that appears linked to her disappearance, Cope begins to believe his sister might still be alive. The Woods will also feature Michelle Keegan.

Additionally, Coben's Myron Bolitar is set to be his first multi-season drama on Netflix, revolving around a retired NBA player who enters the world of sports agency. The series will star Colin Woodell, KJ Apa, and Diane Guerrero.

The Trap is available to watch on Netflix now.
