Taylor Swift Wears Elizabeth Taylor's Opal Jewelry to Brooklyn Wedding
Taylor Swift Dons Elizabeth Taylor's Opal Jewelry at Wedding

Taylor Swift dazzled in opal-and-crystal jewelry that once belonged to her idol, the late Elizabeth Taylor, while attending a Brooklyn wedding with fiancé Travis Kelce over the weekend. The singer donned the Darlene de Sedle collection, which includes chandelier earrings, two bracelets, and a ring originally purchased by the Hollywood legend in 1999.

Swift paired the vintage bling with a gray summer dress and gold heels for the Saturday nuptials. It appears Kelce may have acquired the opal set through an online auction as a gift for his future wife.

Jewelry's Journey

The opal jewelry was first sold for $6,000 as part of Christie's 2011 Collection of Elizabeth Taylor auction. It was then resold by Fox Estate Jewelry via 1stDibs in late 2025 for $125,000. Jewelry dealer Adam Fox revealed in an Instagram video that the sale occurred during Christmas time. 'On the majority of these online platforms, for higher-ticket items, somebody will reach out, ask questions. Sometimes they will try to negotiate, sometimes they won’t. This just randomly sold,' he said.

When Fox saw Swift wearing the set, he told Page Six, 'I was like, ah, this makes so much more sense.' The buyer was a sports agent, leading Fox to assume it was a gift from Kelce to Swift. 'I’m just glad it went to somebody that actually appreciates it. I know Taylor Swift has a song about Elizabeth Taylor, and it all makes sense. It seems like it was bought with a lot of purpose; there was obviously a lot of thought put into this one,' he added.

Wedding Dress Inspiration

Last month, a source told the Daily Mail that Swift may incorporate Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry into her wedding. 'She loves Elizabeth's jewels so she may just wear one of her pieces, something on the smaller side for when she walks down the aisle, but she would need to ask Taylor's estate,' the insider said. It was also revealed that Swift's gown will resemble the one Taylor wore when she wed Conrad Hilton in 1950.

Swift, a devoted fan of the 'Cleopatra' star, wrote a song dedicated to her on her latest album, 'The Life Of A Showgirl.' A source explained, 'Taylor spent so much time looking at old photos of Elizabeth Taylor when she was making her music video for that song that she became enamored with the movie queen's style. So when she started thinking about her wedding dress, she looked up Elizabeth's old gowns online.'

Swift was particularly taken by Taylor's 1950 gown, describing it as 'so flattering,' old-fashioned, with a cinched waistline and lace detailing. The source did not disclose the fashion designer, but speculation points to Sarah Burton (formerly of Alexander McQueen) or Vivienne Westwood, though it is not Oscar de la Renta.

Wedding Plans

Swift and Kelce are set to marry on June 13 in Rhode Island at Swift's $18 million mansion, which offers ocean views and expansive lawns. The guest list has grown to 150, with some events possibly spilling over to the nearby Ocean House resort. 'They feel confident hosting it there. The entire area will be very private and guarded,' an insider said.

The couple has scaled down their original plans, opting for a traditional ceremony with Swift's father walking her down the aisle, father-daughter and mother-son dances, white flowers, gold wedding bands, and a 1950s-style wedding cake. 'They're both involved and making decisions together,' a source told UsWeekly. 'They're keeping things light' as they prepare without pressing work obligations. The honeymoon, likely in the Caribbean, will be brief as Kelce must report to football training camp in late July.

Swift's engagement ring, a custom-designed old mine-cut diamond from Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, was presented by Kelce in his backyard in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The couple announced their engagement in August with a joint Instagram post reading, 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.'
