The Royal Mint has introduced a new collectible 50p coin to mark the 25th anniversary of Peter Jackson's film The Fellowship of the Ring. Designed by Thomas T Docherty, the coin prominently displays the One Ring with its famous Elvish inscription, “One Ring to rule them all.”
Innovative Hidden Feature
A select number of these coins incorporate a “groundbreaking” hidden image of the Eye of Sauron, which becomes visible when light strikes the surface. This unique effect was achieved through meticulous engineering by Royal Mint craftspeople utilizing innovative caustic technology.
Availability and Pricing
This coin is the first in a seven-piece collection and will be available for purchase from 20 May via the Royal Mint's website, with prices starting at £15.
