A woman bears such an uncanny resemblance to a young Cher that people say it is like she has turned back time. Samantha Davidoff, 31, who goes by Sammy, recently went viral after posting a video telling her followers that strangers frequently mistake her for the legendary star.
After capturing attention on TikTok, she has now spoken out about what it is like to be compared to the icon, who celebrates her 80th birthday on May 20. People regularly mistake Sammy for the music legend owing to her striking features and long, dark locks that bear a remarkable likeness to a young Cher.
Now she has shared what it is like to be compared to the singer so frequently. Sammy, who is based in Miami, is absolutely thrilled that people believe she and the legendary performer share such a striking similarity.
When asked about how people first began mentioning it, she said: 'There were definitely people (strangers) that I would meet who would say 'oh my gosh, has anyone ever told you that you look like Cher?' It would happen every now and then starting maybe eight or 10 years ago. But, when I started posting more on TikTok over the last year and also going live, that is when I would start hearing it from people ALL the time. I have never done a TikTok live without at least one person saying it. I love it! I take it as a huge compliment, because Cher was such a style icon when she was my age and, on top of that, she is beautiful and so talented.'
Admittedly, she said people often compare her to a 'young Cher', perhaps not to suggest that she looks older than her years. People frequently quote Cher songs at her and pass comment. Fortunately, she takes it all in her stride. Sammy is a huge Cher fan, with 'Believe' ranking amongst her all-time favourite songs.
She considers Cher a formidable woman, as well as an absolute icon — something Sammy greatly aspires to herself. 'Honestly, I do not think there is any bad part about being compared to her,' she added. 'She is a great person to look up to and to be compared to. We obviously have differences, but I think it is fun to make videos to her songs and play into it. One day I will have to dress up as her for Halloween. I just need to find the perfect outfit first.'
Sammy, who works as a social media marketing strategist and content creator, partners with brands across various industries to produce their content, grow their platforms and strengthen their overall digital presence, while also creating content for her own channel. This is how a growing number of people have started to take notice of her.
She explained: 'I think what has been interesting is how the comparison to Cher has opened up a lot of conversations and visibility, but I really see it as an entry point rather than the full story.
