Residents of a street in Gateshead have had film crews and actors on their doorstep this week as ITV cameras rolled on Bad Blood, a real-life drama tipped to be one of the biggest shows of 2027.
The production, from the team behind BBC hit Line of Duty, is being filmed in Deneside Avenue in Low Fell, after last month's production launch at Newcastle's Civic Centre.
True story of the infected blood scandal
Written by BAFTA award-winning Peter Moffat, creator of Criminal Justice and Silk, the four-part series tells the true story of the infected blood scandal, one of the UK's biggest injustices. It follows the devastating impact of contaminated blood products on thousands of people and their families, alongside their decades-long fight for truth and justice.
Cast and crew on location
Filming crossed the River Tyne to Gateshead after ITV informed residents of plans to shoot there. A local resident sent in photos of the cast and crew in action outside their door on Tuesday, as the street became a hub of activity.
Stars include Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen, former Happy Valley actress Susan Lynch, and Joe Absolom, known for playing Matthew Rose in EastEnders in the late 90s and 00s, who has also been visiting Grainger Market in Newcastle during breaks in filming.
Filming continues across the North East
Bad Blood is set to continue filming throughout the North East over the next month.
