New Godfather Novel to Focus on Connie Corleone in First Female-Led Story

Random House has announced the acquisition of Connie, an authorised Godfather novel written by bestselling author Adriana Trigiani. Scheduled for release in fall 2027, the book will centre on Connie Corleone, the character portrayed by Talia Shire in the three Godfather films. This marks the third Godfather book approved by Mario Puzo's estate and the first to be written by a woman.

Connie is a novel about how a woman works to forge her own way in a world that’s already decided who she is, what she’s about, and how she should be treated,” Trigiani said in a statement. “People underestimated Don Vito Corleone and Michael Corleone at their peril. The same will be true for Connie Corleone.”

According to Random House, the Puzo estate sought out Trigiani after she published a Substack essay lamenting how little was known about the Corleone women. Anthony Puzo, the author's son and executor, said: “We had been looking for someone to retell the story from a new perspective. Adriana’s vision for Connie’s life blew us all away.”

Paramount Pictures, which produced the Godfather movies, holds the film rights. The original trilogy concluded with The Godfather Part III in 1990 and has earned over $400 million worldwide, winning nine Academy Awards. Trigiani is known for novels including The Shoemaker's Wife and Lucia, Lucia.
