Prince William and Princess Catherine may relax one of their strict parenting rules for their eldest son, Prince George, when he moves away to boarding school in September. The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing for a major change at their Forest Lodge home as George, who will soon turn 13, will attend Eton College as a boarder. This means he will no longer live under their roof except for weekends and school holidays.
Potential Change in Phone Policy
Currently, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis do not have mobile phones. However, this rule could soon change for George. The parents are likely to want to stay in contact with their son while he is at Eton. To facilitate this, they may give him a mobile phone, breaking their current no-phone policy.
Prince William hinted at this possibility last year during an interview with Brazilian television host Luciano Huck. The future King stated, “Our children don't have phones.” He added, “When George moves onto secondary school, maybe he'll have one with limited access. We talk to him and explain why we don't think it's right. With full access, children end up seeing things on the internet that they shouldn't. But with restricted access, I think it's good for messaging.”
Impact on the Family
It has not yet been confirmed whether George will be allowed his own phone when he moves to Eton, which is a short drive from Windsor. His siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, will continue living at Forest Lodge with their parents. The transition marks a significant milestone for the royal family, as they have never lived apart from any of their children before.
