Victoria Beckham's Mother's Day Snub as Brooklyn Celebrates Wife's Mother
Victoria Beckham has been dealt a significant emotional blow in the lead-up to Mother's Day, as her estranged eldest son Brooklyn chose to celebrate the birthday of his wife Nicola Peltz's mother instead. This public display of affection toward his in-laws comes amid an ongoing and bitter family feud that shows no signs of resolution.
Celebrating with the In-Laws
The 27-year-old aspiring chef, who co-owns a hot sauce brand, was photographed this week celebrating Claudia Heffner Peltz's birthday with his wife Nicola. New social media snaps posted by Nicola, 31, show the couple enjoying the special occasion with her mother. In a heartfelt tribute accompanying the images, Nicola wrote: 'Happy Birthday to my mom! The pure fact that i get to call you mom makes me truly, the luckiest ever. I’m so happy I got to spend your special day with you. I love celebrating you - your light is so bright you make everything better in this world. I love you more than you will ever understand. i hope all your dreams and wishes come true!'
This celebration follows Brooklyn's previous Christmas spent with Nicola's parents and her brother Bradley, further cementing his close relationship with his wife's family while remaining distant from his own.
Ignoring Family Birthday Tributes
The timing is particularly poignant as Brooklyn recently turned 27 earlier this month. According to insider reports, he was 'disheartened' when his parents Victoria and David Beckham, along with his brothers Romeo and Cruz, publicly wished him happy birthday on social media. An insider told entertainment publication ET that Brooklyn viewed these 'performative posts' as exactly the type of public gesture he has been trying to end.
'Brooklyn and Nicola are disheartened they chose to make public Instagram posts for his birthday,' a source revealed. 'These are the exact type of performative public actions that Brooklyn has been trying to put an end to, to no avail. Last summer they issued a legal letter to his parents requesting that any correspondence go through lawyers.'
While Brooklyn ignored his family's nostalgic throwback photos, birthday messages, and their use of his childhood nickname 'Buster,' he promptly responded to Nicola's social media tribute to him on his birthday.
Deepening Family Rift
The most recent developments indicate that Brooklyn remains on speaking terms with his grandfather Ted and his wife Hilary, maintaining regular contact with them despite his estrangement from his immediate family. Now based permanently in the United States with his wife, Brooklyn outlined his desire to distance himself from his family in a detailed six-page Instagram statement earlier this year.
In that lengthy January post addressed to his social media followers, Brooklyn made serious allegations against his parents, claiming they had attempted to sabotage his marriage and consistently prioritized public branding over genuine family relationships. 'For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,' he wrote. 'The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.'
He added: 'Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.'
This Mother's Day period finds Victoria Beckham facing the painful reality of her fractured relationship with her eldest son, as Brooklyn continues to build his life and family connections in America while maintaining his distance from the Beckham family unit.
