The Script played a surprise gig at Irish pub O'Sheas in Manchester on Friday night, just hours after supporting Take That at the Etihad Stadium.
From Stadium to Pub
Fresh from their high-energy performance in front of 50,000 fans, the Irish rockers announced on social media that they would play a one-off show in the city centre at 11pm. The venue was O'Sheas, one of Manchester's most iconic Irish pubs on Princess Street.
Frontman Danny O'Donoghue went from being the Man in the Arena to the man in the middle of a packed pub, taking it all in his stride. Fans lucky enough to get in were treated to an intimate acoustic set of classics like Breakeven and new hit Man in the Arena.
Netflix Mix-Up
Earlier in the evening, Danny caused a stir among Take That fans by announcing twice during The Script's set that the show was being filmed for a Netflix livestream. However, Take That's representatives later confirmed that Danny had mixed up his streaming services; the filming was actually a test run by Amazon for a livestream scheduled for Saturday night.
Setlist Highlights
- Superheroes – opened the set
- Hall of Fame – closed the show
- Nothing – Danny walked through the entire Man City ground while singing
- Wonderwall – Oasis cover that endeared him to the Manchester crowd
Danny hailed Manchester fans as some of the best in the world, earning roaring approval.
Upcoming Shows
The Script will continue supporting Take That on Saturday and Sunday nights as part of the 2026 reboot of the Circus Live tour – 17 years after they first supported the band. Danny praised Take That for supporting them in their early days, saying there was no hesitation in joining the tour.
New Album and Tour
After the Take That tour, The Script will release their new album, The User's Guide to Being Human, in August. They then embark on a European arena tour starting in Dublin in October, with a UK leg including a date at Manchester's Co-op Live on November 7.
