In a recent interview with People magazine, Lucci opened up about the profound grief she continues to experience following the death of her husband, Helmut Huber, in 2022. Huber passed away at age 84, just one month after suffering a stroke, ending their 52-year marriage.
Lucci described feeling "completely lost" and "so alone" after his passing, admitting that the pain still surfaces unexpectedly. She shared that holidays are particularly difficult, serving as painful "triggers" when his absence at the family table becomes overwhelmingly apparent.
"I don't fight it," Lucci said. "I'm surprised sometimes by it. Certainly there are things like the holidays that are triggers - someone who should be sitting at the table. But I just go with it." When asked what she misses most about Huber, she simply replied, "everything," emphasising how she longs for his presence and their shared moments, like morning coffee together.
A Lifelong Partnership and Legacy
Lucci and Huber met while both working at a hotel and became engaged after just three weeks of dating. They married in September 1969 and built a life together that Lucci now describes as "such a gift." The couple welcomed two children: daughter Liza, now 50, and son Andreas, 45.
Huber served as Lucci's manager throughout much of her career and was the CEO of their production company, Pine Valley Productions, named after the fictional town in All My Children.
