Plastic Surgeons Analyse Super Bowl Stars' Subtle Cosmetic Tweaks
During this year's Super Bowl, fans were not solely focused on the football action unfolding on the field. Many spectators turned their keen observational skills towards the famous celebrities in attendance, sparking online debates about potential cosmetic enhancements. Some viewers branded Lady Gaga as 'Ozempicfied,' while others remarked that Ricky Martin appeared 'much younger' than his years. In response to this widespread speculation, the Daily Mail consulted four esteemed plastic surgeons to provide professional insights into which celebrities might have undergone subtle procedures before the big game.
Expert Opinions on Celebrity Appearances
Two of the surgeons specifically named Ricky Martin, suggesting his taut visage was likely the result of a surgeon's scalpel, though they emphasised it probably was not a full facelift. The surgeons also meticulously studied images of Lady Gaga amid claims she may have utilised new blockbuster weight-loss drugs, with one expert additionally noting that Jennifer Aniston might have received a subtle lip filler touch-up prior to the event. All the plastic surgeons based their comments solely on viewing photographs of the stars online or during the performance, as none had the opportunity to conduct an in-person examination.
Dr Jimmy Sung, a plastic surgeon at Tribeca Aesthetics, explained to the Daily Mail that stars are increasingly favouring more natural-looking plastic surgery procedures. He elaborated, stating, 'For Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, one of the reasons they look so good has less to do with the plastic surgery itself and more to do with the fact they are at peace with themselves and their looks, and aren't using procedures to fight it.' Below is a detailed breakdown of the celebrities who may have had subtle tweaks ahead of the grand spectacle.
Lady Gaga's Slimmer Frame Sparks Ozempic Speculation
The 39-year-old Applause singer performed at the Super Bowl halftime show alongside main headliner Bad Bunny, but her noticeably slimmer frame quickly ignited online speculation that she had used Ozempic. One fan wrote on X, 'Is that Lady Gaga or AI or Lady Ozempic Gaga?' while another added, 'An Ozempicfied Lady Gaga makes an appearance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.' Dr Sung commented, 'Lady Gaga is a little thinner, and there is definitely some loss of facial volume. Nowadays, people say that is from Ozempic, but it could also be from getting older, you lose facial volume as you age. She leads an active life as a performer, and my guess is that diet and exercise are behind her weight loss.'
Dr Jeffrey Lee, a plastic surgeon at JL Plastic Surgery in Massachusetts, added, 'Lady Gaga appears to have lost weight overall, including in her face. Her facial volume looks slimmer, and her neck appears slightly looser than in the past, which is consistent with significant weight loss. That kind of change can happen naturally, but it’s also commonly seen with GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy.' He also suggested she may have had subtle filler in her face to counteract volume loss and prevent sagging. Daily Mail contacted representatives of Lady Gaga for comment but had not received a response by the time of publication. Notably, Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, lost 'a lot of weight' in 2024 for her role in the movie Joker, according to her co-star Joaquin Phoenix. The star has not commented on any use of GLP-1 medications.
Tom Brady's Chiseled Jawline and Botox Speculation
Rumours that Tom Brady has undergone plastic surgery first surfaced during last year's Super Bowl when he debuted a thinner frame and face, and those musings persisted after his sideline appearance at this year's game. Dr Gina Maccarone, a triple board-certified cosmetic surgeon and founder of The Surgeonista, told the Daily Mail that based on photos, 'subtle jawline or neck liposuction is possible.' However, she added, 'if he's had anything done, it was likely conservative.'
Dr Brandon Richland, a plastic surgeon in California, noted, 'When I look at the recent photos of Tom from the Super Bowl, the first thing that jumps out at me... is definitely a more chiseled, almost skeletal quality to his midface and jawline compared to a few years ago. When someone loses a substantial amount of weight quickly, especially in their late 40s, we often see this gaunt look because the fat pads that provide youthful fullness begin to diminish. It is very possible that a GLP-1 or a strict change in body composition has contributed to that lean appearance, which can paradoxically make a person look older while appearing leaner.' Additionally, Richland said the smoothness of his brow area and forehead suggests the use of Botox, aiming to soften deep furrows while maintaining natural movement. Brady, 48, has never publicly commented on any use of GLP-1s or plastic surgery procedures, and Daily Mail has reached out to his representatives for comment.
Jennifer Aniston's Lip Filler and Past Procedures
Jennifer Aniston appeared for less than a minute at the Super Bowl in an advertisement for Dunkin' Donuts, but the brief cameo was enough to spark speculation that she may have received lip filler, with observers noting her lips appeared larger than before. While part of the commercial digitally altered her character, the beginning featured present-day Aniston without de-aging technology. Dr Raja Mohan, a plastic surgeon in Texas, stated, 'From the photos, there is a possibility she had lip filler, and, if she did, it is a small, subtle amount. But, there is not clear evidence pointing to her actually having it. Overall, her lips look great and natural.'
Aniston has faced plastic surgery rumours before; in June 2024, during an appearance for her show The Morning Show, the then-55-year-old seemingly had a swollen area below her left eye and puffier lips, leading fans to comment she looked visibly more 'tired.' At that time, a plastic surgeon speaking to Daily Mail suggested the look might be due to a botched cosmetic procedure, or 'filler gone wrong,' possibly from too much substance injected into the tear trough area. Representatives for Aniston have not responded to Daily Mail's request for comment.
Ricky Martin's Youthful Appearance and Non-Surgical Treatments
The Latino superstar captivated attention at Sunday's Super Bowl with his surprise performance, singing a rendition of Bad Bunny's Lo Que Le Paso a Hawaii. Online, many viewers expressed surprise at how young the 54-year-old appeared, with some comparing him favourably to Bad Bunny, who is 31. Dr Lee remarked, 'It's likely he's had non-surgical treatments such as Botox and fillers, which can significantly refresh someone's appearance without surgery.' He suggested the star may have had fillers in the mid-face to restore volume lost with aging, while Botox could help minimise fine lines and wrinkles.
Dr Sung also claimed to Daily Mail that Martin had fillers but noted he had dissolved some compared to previous years to achieve a more natural facial appearance. A representative for Ricky Martin did not respond to a request for comment, and Martin himself has not previously addressed plastic surgery claims. This analysis underscores a growing trend towards subtle, natural-looking cosmetic enhancements among celebrities, as highlighted by expert opinions from the plastic surgery community.
