Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw has admitted he was “laughed at a little” on the dance floor before joining Strictly Come Dancing. The 39-year-old made the confession after he and professional partner Nadiya Bychkova survived the first dance-off of the 2025 series.
Appearing on the spin-off show It Takes Two on Tuesday, Robshaw described his Strictly journey as “emotional”. Bychkova praised their performance on Saturday, saying they did “really well”.
Robshaw, who retired from rugby in 2022, said the competition has “reignited that competitive energy and spirit to get back out there”. He reflected on his transformation from someone “who got laughed at a little bit when on the dance floor” to a performer “going out every week”.
“It’s only baby steps, but it’s steps in the right direction,” he added.
