Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas has revealed he confronted his father about his six-year absence during a trip to India for a new ITV documentary. The 35-year-old former Emmerdale actor travelled with his brothers, Ryan and Scott Thomas, and their father Dougie James to explore their family roots.
Adam, Ryan, and Scott grew up without their father after their parents' acrimonious split. Dougie returned when Ryan turned 16, but the brothers never discussed the abandonment until the documentary. Adam told Star TV magazine: 'My dad left us for years when we were younger and then he came back into our lives and we never really talked about it.'
Scott, Ryan's non-identical twin, added: 'We didn’t see him in all that time, then when Ryan turned 16 he came back into our lives. It was a hard time for us, which is something we had to deal with on this trip.' The brothers visited the Dharavi slum, one of the most densely populated places on Earth.
Adam, who has two children with wife Caroline Daly, has also been battling rheumatoid arthritis. He shared an update on social media after undergoing tests, saying: 'One day I will get my arthritis under control but until then... more bloods and more doctors. Staying strong.' He was diagnosed earlier this year after experiencing pain in his knees, wrists, fingers, and toes.
