Pete Green, a contestant on ITV's The Chase, has died in a house fire, with tributes pouring in from fans and fellow cast members. The episode featuring Green aired posthumously, showing him as a 'semi-retired medieval trader' and scare actor who quickly became a fan favourite.

Green died in a fire at his home in Wymondham, Norfolk, on June 27, 2021. Emergency services were called to Damgate Street at approximately 3am, where Green was discovered inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene. Police described the death as unexplained, with the cause of the fire unknown.

During the show, Green accepted a minus offer of -£5,000 and reached the final chase alongside teammate Jessica. The duo faced chaser Paul Sinha but were caught with just one second remaining. Sinha later paid tribute on social media, calling Green 'a true gentleman, a warm, engaging and thoroughly entertaining opponent.'
