Stacey Solomon made a rare and candid admission about her parenting during the BBC show Sort Your Life Out, revealing she feels she has 'lost in the game that is raising a teenager' after comparing her own son to a young boy who cooks for his family.
In an episode first broadcast last year, Solomon and her team visited the Clarke family in the West Midlands. Parents Sarah and Jon are both deaf, and they live with their three children — Timeon, Caitlin, and Owen — in a two-storey home that had become cluttered over the years.
Teenager's Cooking Pays Off Debt
While clearing the kitchen, Solomon spoke with the eldest son, Timeon, who revealed he loves to cook for his family. He explained that he started cooking to repay a debt: 'I borrowed money from my grandparents and my mum so I've just been cooking to pay all that off. That's where my love for cooking came from, really. I've paid it all back.'
Stacey was stunned to learn that the teenager continued cooking even after settling the debt. She told him, 'God, they've done well with you, haven't they?'
Solomon's Honest Reaction
Outside the house, Solomon addressed the camera directly, comparing Timeon's initiative to her own 13-year-old son. She said: 'If I said to my 13-year-old, "Can you start cooking to pay off one of the things, many things, that I've bought you over the years?" He'd be like, "Ugh, ugh! I don't even want to eat." That's what I would get! I've done something wrong. I've... I've lost. I've lost in the game that is raising a teenager.'
Solomon has five children: two eldest sons from previous relationships and three younger children with her husband, Joe Swash.
Plans to Move from Pickle Cottage
Recently, speculation has emerged that Solomon and Swash are planning to sell their beloved Pickle Cottage in favour of a Victorian mansion in Essex. According to a source quoted by The Sun, the couple viewed a property set on 30 acres of land, complete with a swimming pool and a lake.
The source said: 'They viewed the house and fell in love with it. It's got extra space for the kids. Pickle Cottage only has five bedrooms. They have six children, and then they need a room for themselves. It gives Stacey a chance to do more of her amazing DIY work as well. She has a great eye for interiors. This house needs a bit of love and work to make it the absolute dream home where they can make new memories.'
Sort Your Life Out is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
