Television personality Vogue Williams is preparing for a challenging stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, but she'll be doing it without the physical support of her husband, Spencer Matthews, due to an extraordinary diary clash.
A World Record Attempt on Another Continent
Spencer Matthews, 37, will not be flying to Australia to cheer on his wife from the sidelines. Instead, the former Made in Chelsea star is in Cape Town, South Africa, gearing up for his third full Ironman triathlon. This event is part of an immense personal challenge: completing seven Ironman triathlons across seven continents in just 21 days. Success would secure him a coveted Guinness World Record.
The timing of this endeavour means Spencer will not only be absent from Australia but will also likely miss watching Vogue, 40, tackle the jungle's infamous Bush Tucker Trials on television. A source close to the couple revealed that avoiding this schedule conflict was "extremely unlikely," as Spencer has just finished his second triathlon in Arizona and is racing against the 21-day deadline to complete the set.
Vogue's Glamorous Jungle Challenge
While her husband pushes his physical limits, Vogue Williams is set to become one of the show's late arrivals and has been tipped as "one of the most glam signings" the programme has seen in years. Her decision to enter the jungle was not taken lightly, as it means a significant amount of time away from the couple's three children.
A source explained, "It has been a hard decision to go on the show, because it will mean so much time away from her kids, but she wants to fight her fears and go for it." The children will remain in London, continuing their school routine and supporting their parents from afar by watching their mother on TV.
A Stark Contrast to Spencer's Past Jungle Experience
The situation is particularly poignant given Spencer's own brief and ill-fated history with the show. In 2015, he was removed from the I'm A Celebrity camp after just three days for taking steroids and failing to inform producers beforehand. He has since attributed the transgression to "vanity."
Now, a decade later, he is unable to be there to support his wife of seven years during her own jungle journey. A source told the Daily Mail, "The timing isn't ideal at all... Of course, Spencer would want nothing more than to support Vogue in Australia and be there waiting for her when she leaves the jungle but both committed to their own projects."
This is not the first extreme challenge for the entrepreneur, who completed 30 desert marathons in 30 days earlier this year, also earning a Guinness World Record. He is documenting his current global triathlon mission on his podcast, Untapped, as he continues to push the boundaries of human endurance.
