Sharon Osbourne on 'Complex' Ties with Ozzy's First Family

Sharon Osbourne has offered a rare and intimate glimpse into the intricate family dynamics that defined her life with the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. In a revealing interview on the Dumb Blonde podcast, hosted by Bunnie XO, Sharon discussed the "very complex" relationships within their blended family, particularly her connection to Ozzy's first wife, Thelma Riley, and their three children: Jessica, Louis, and Elliot.

The Blended Family Dynamic

During the podcast episode, Sharon Osbourne reflected on the challenges and bonds that shaped their unconventional family structure. She shares three children with Ozzy—Kelly, Jack, and Aimee—while Ozzy had three older children from his previous marriage to Thelma Riley. Sharon emphasized that despite the complexities, there were strong connections, particularly with Ozzy's son Louis.

"I'm very close with Ozzy's son [Louis]," Sharon stated, describing the family dynamic as "very complex." She added, "And you know, it's always the way the girls go with the moms, the guys, you know. And we have a great relationship, and I adore him, and my kids adore him. It's a unit, you know."

Reflections on Ozzy's First Marriage

Sharon delved into the history of Ozzy's marriage to Thelma Riley, which lasted from 1971 to 1982. She provided insights into why their relationship did not endure, noting the circumstances of their early lives. "Ozzy's wife was married very early," Sharon explained. "She got pregnant very early, and she was married and had a child to somebody before she met Ozzy. So, when Ozzy and, her name is Thelma, got together, she had a five-year-old child, and they married."

She continued, "Ozzy was already in Black Sabbath. And they were just starting to break, and she was a student and they were young." Sharon highlighted how their paths diverged as Riley focused on raising her child while Ozzy embarked on tours with his band, leading to a gradual separation.

Mutual Respect Despite Differences

Despite the end of Ozzy and Thelma's marriage, Sharon emphasized that there was never significant conflict over parenting. "They were two totally different people," she told Bunnie XO, praising them for raising "great kids." Sharon described her own relationship with Riley as one of mutual respect, even though they had little in common.

"That was their connection was the kids, and I knew her, but we were so different. I was a big-mouthed flash kid, and she was a student," Sharon recalled. "So, I would come in a room and eff 'em blind, you know, and she would look at me like 'She's crazy. She's crazy.' And I get it."

She concluded, "So, we had nothing in common other than I was always respectful to her because she was Ozzy's wife and they had their children together."

Remembering Ozzy Osbourne

The interview comes in the wake of Ozzy Osbourne's passing in July 2025 at the age of 76. His family announced that he died from a heart attack, surrounded by loved ones. A statement released at the time read, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Sharon's candid discussion sheds light on the enduring bonds and respectful coexistence that characterized their family, offering a poignant reminder of the personal stories behind the public personas.
