Comedian and former I'm A Celebrity star Seann Walsh has been struck by a sudden illness, throwing his planned appearance on the spin-off show I'm A Celebrity Unpacked into jeopardy and forcing the cancellation of several of his live comedy performances.
Sudden Illness Forces Gig Cancellations
The 39-year-old comedian took to social media to break the news to his fans, apologising for his last-minute absence. "Apologies to the audience in Hordean tonight and in Cornwall tomorrow night," Walsh wrote. "I will no longer be appearing as I suddenly became ill last night. It's not pretty." He finished his message by encouraging ticket holders to still attend the events, praising the promoters for always putting on a "fantastic night," and expressed his hope to see fans next time.
Uncertainty for I'm A Celebrity Unpacked
Walsh was scheduled to join fellow comedian and friend Joel Dommett on the ITV companion show I'm A Celebrity Unpacked. Dommett, who hosts the show with Capital Radio DJ Kemi Rodgers, recently spoke about their long-standing friendship and a friendly rivalry. "I've known him for years and years," Dommett said, recalling how Walsh beat him in a comedy competition early in his career. "We've buried the hatchet now. We'll do live stand-up comedy on Unpacked to see who wins." It is now unknown if Walsh will be well enough to participate.
Looking Back at Walsh's Jungle Past
This is not Seann Walsh's first involvement with the hit reality series. He previously entered the main I'm A Celebrity camp in the 2022 series as a late arrival, ultimately finishing in 11th place. His casting on the show came after his highly publicised stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, which was overshadowed by controversy when he was photographed kissing his professional dance partner, Katya Jones, while both were in other relationships.
Meanwhile, the lineup for I'm A Celebrity Unpacked promises other exciting guests. Co-host Kemi Rodgers confirmed that former Queen of the Jungle, Lioness Jill Scott, and former King of the Jungle, Sam Thompson, will be appearing. Rodgers also shared her excitement for the new series, hoping for a smoother introduction than last year when a large bug landed on her head during her first live broadcast.
