Sean Wilson, best known for playing Martin Platt on Coronation Street for 20 years, has reinvented himself as an artist after a career as a professional cheesemaker. The 59-year-old left the ITV soap in 2005 and later founded the Saddleworth Cheese Company, working in Michelin-starred restaurants and writing cookbooks.
In 2025, Wilson launched a website to showcase and sell his artwork, and recently posted on Instagram to promote his pieces. One fan commented: "Great art brother." Reports suggest his cheese company is no longer actively trading, but Wilson still describes himself as a cheese producer and actor on social media, offering cooking demonstrations.
Wilson's return to Coronation Street in 2024 for Gail Platt's exit storyline was cut short after an unfounded historical allegation from 1997 emerged. Police confirmed no further action would be taken, but his scenes were scrapped and rewritten. He told The Sun the allegation "ruined" his life "in eight minutes," saying: "I had no idea who had made this complaint... It’s been hell."
Despite the setback, Wilson has remained quiet on social media until recently, focusing on his art. He also toured the UK with celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager in a live stage show called "Posh Teas & Artisan Cheese" in 2025.
