BBC Radio 2 presenter Rylan Clark has opened up about a terrifying flight experience that left him fearing for his life. The 36-year-old was returning from a short holiday in Marbella with his mother Linda when their journey turned into a nightmare.
Speaking to colleague Sally Boazman on Saturday, August 8, Rylan recounted the series of mishaps that plagued their flight from Malaga Airport to London. The problems began with faulty air conditioning, causing passengers to sweat profusely, followed by an engine failure due to a software glitch.
Rylan described the moment the plane had to be completely powered down for seven minutes: 'Everything is turned off, it's silent. I've never been on a plane like this before.' The situation escalated when a family demanded to disembark, leading to a delay of over an hour as all luggage had to be removed from the aircraft.
Despite the chaos, Rylan praised the pilot and crew for their efforts. The flight eventually landed safely at London City Airport just before 10pm, narrowly avoiding a diversion due to the airport's curfew. Rylan quipped that the delay was so long he could have flown to Dubai and back.
