Reality TV star Scott Thomas has revealed he suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), describing the condition as so “debilitating” that he sought treatment at a rehabilitation centre. The former Love Island contestant, 37, spoke candidly about his diagnosis on the At Home With The Thomas Bros podcast, hosted by his brothers Adam and Ryan.
Thomas, who has previously been open about his struggles with alcoholism and gambling, said he believes his OCD was exacerbated by “drinking and partying” and his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He admitted he had kept his OCD diagnosis private for fear of being judged, given his history of addiction.
Describing his symptoms, Thomas said: “My OCD was debilitating – to the point where if I didn’t tap something a certain amount of times, I thought someone was going to die. Then I’d be speaking to myself going ‘everything’s OK, everything’s OK’.” He explained that he underwent cognitive behavioural therapy at a rehab centre to manage the condition, and while he still has OCD, he now feels equipped to control it.
The Manchester-born star, who appeared on the 2016 series of ITV’s Love Island, has been sober for nearly four years. He reflected on his past, including multiple arrests for drunk and disorderly behaviour and losing “thousands of pounds in the casino”. Thomas, now a motivational speaker, also appeared on the Love Island: All Stars spin-off in 2025, where he quit the show early.
