Wayne Rooney was back at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening (November 3) for punditry duty, where his recent transformation was noticed. The former Manchester United and England footballer was providing analysis for Amazon Prime during Michael Carrick's side's UEFA Champions League match against AS Roma, which ended in a 3-2 win for the home side.

Playing days coat revealed

While down on the pitch, sports presenter Alex Aljoe commented on his appearance, asking: "You look the same, by the way, and rumour has it this coat is from your playing days, is that true?" A smiling Wayne replied: "Yeah, I'm back in it! Back in my playing days coat."

Rooney, 41, won five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy during his playing career with United. His return to the stadium comes amid rumours that he is set to head to Australia for I'm A Celebrity 2026.

Weight loss comments

Back in September, Wayne said he had been "working really hard to lose weight" and insisted he has not turned to alternative methods to change his physical appearance. He was seen showing off his new look at the premiere of his and wife Coleen's reality show, The Real Rooneys.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "Apparently, I've seen recently, I've been taking this pen thing about me. It's a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight. Apparently, I've been on the pen." Coleen added: "I thought you were gonna say then, my nose wasn't a cosmetic job, it was a medical job!"

She also said she persuaded Wayne to have the operation, partly to improve his snoring. She said, "I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring," as Wayne added, "I couldn't blow one side out of my nose, so I had it fixed."

I'm A Celebrity rumours

There is currently talk that Wayne will soon be heading Down Under by following Coleen onto I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! after she finished as runner-up on the 2024 series. According to The Sun, Wayne hopes to impress his four sons by taking on the show's Bushtucker trials – and is considered one of the ITV reality programme's biggest signings.

Gavin And Stacey star Joanna Page is also said to have signed up for the latest series, while another star said to be set for the jungle is Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson. Other names being rumoured for the jungle this year, as ITV is yet to confirm its full line-up, include Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney, Big Brother co-host AJ Odudu and comedian Leigh Francis, best known for his alter-ego, Keith Lemon.
