Rolling Stones Tie Beatles with 15th UK Number One Album

The Rolling Stones have matched The Beatles' record for the most UK number one albums after their latest release, Foreign Tongues, debuted at the top of the Official Albums Chart. The 14-track record follows their 2023 album Hackney Diamonds and has been praised by critics as a late-career peak.

Chart Achievement

According to the Official Charts Company, the Grammy-winning group now has 15 number one albums, equalling the tally of fellow 1960s rock legends The Beatles. The Rolling Stones, consisting of singer Sir Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, and guitarist Ronnie Wood, are widely regarded as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.

Other Chart Highlights

On the albums chart, British boy band December 10 achieved the highest-charting debut for a UK boy band in six years with On Your Side, landing at number five. The seven-member group, formed by Simon Cowell for his Netflix documentary The Next Act, said the top 10 feat is "still hard to get our heads around." They added: "Seeing our name in the official albums chart alongside artists like The Rolling Stones is a proper pinch-me moment."

US rock band My Chemical Romance sits at number two with a remastered version of their 2010 album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys. Olivia Rodrigo follows at number three with You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, which gave her the biggest opening week of her career. Michael Jackson's compilation The Essential is at number four, amid renewed interest following the release of a biopic about the King of Pop.

Singles Chart

On the UK singles chart, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's Rein Me In holds the top spot for a 17th non-consecutive week. The track has surpassed Bryan Adams' 16-week run with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You in 1991. It is now one week away from equalling Frankie Laine's 1953 hit I Believe for the most weeks at number one ever, and has already been crowned the longest-running number one single by a British act.

Oasis's Wonderwall, adopted by England fans during the 2026 FIFA World Cup as an unofficial anthem, sits at number two. This comes after England's 2-1 semi-final loss to Argentina, ending their 60-year wait for World Cup glory. Three Lions by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner, and the Lightning Seeds is at number three, while Talk To You by Anotr/54 Ultra is at four. The official World Cup anthem, Dai Dai by Shakira and Burna Boy, rounds off the top five.
