Death in Paradise star Ralf Little has been praised by fans after a deeply emotional moment on the Channel 4 series Will & Ralf Should Know Better. The 46-year-old actor broke down as he discussed the tragic death of his sister during a stand-up comedy routine filmed for the show.
When Little was nine years old, his 14-year-old sister Ceri fell 150 feet to her death from a cliff while the family were on holiday in Cornwall. The tragedy, he said, contributed to his parents' divorce and deeply affected his other sister, Rowena. In his stand-up set, Little used humour to process his grief, saying: 'When I was nine, my sister died when she was 14 because she fell off a cliff. It made me learn from an early age that you have to try and laugh through anything.'
He went on to joke about his surviving sister and brother, but became visibly emotional when discussing why he has no children. 'I don't think generational trauma is necessarily a good foundation for fatherhood,' he said, before adding: 'Maybe I'm not the most suitable material to be a dad.' His co-star Will Mellor was seen wiping away tears during the routine.
Fans took to social media to praise Little's vulnerability. One wrote: 'I was crying and laughing watching this. You did so well.' Another said: 'This series has been absolutely incredible. One of the best shows on TV. I love that both you and Will are not afraid to open up and show such real vulnerability.'
Will & Ralf Should Know Better is available to stream on Channel 4 and 4oD.
