Prince Harry Faces Backlash After Calling Himself 'Prince of England' on Podcast
Prince Harry Backlash Over 'Prince of England' Comment

Prince Harry has faced a devastating blow after a controversial comment he made on a podcast appearance backfired, sparking widespread anger online. The Duke of Sussex, who was in the UK last week for a series of engagements, recorded an episode of the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, which aired on Monday.

Harry's 'Prince of England' Comment Ignites Fury

During the podcast, Harry discussed topics including the Invictus Games, trauma, family, and British culture. In a quickfire question segment, he was asked about his occupation. The Duke, who stepped down from royal duties in 2020, replied: 'Full time dad, British Army veteran, Prince of England, Duke.'

The remark immediately drew criticism, as Harry is not a working member of the Royal Family and does not carry out royal duties, though he retains his titles. Additionally, the title 'Prince of England' does not officially exist.

Online Backlash and Poll Results

Social media users were quick to call out Harry. One person said: 'He left his "occupation" as prince and duke. Now they are vanity titles.' Another commented: 'I don’t think he knows the definition of occupation. He doesn’t have a “job” as Prince of England. An occupation is a person's regular work, profession, or principal activity engaged in to earn a living.'

A third user wrote: 'There is no such thing as Prince of England???' Another angry royal fan added: 'I find it very strange that he would say Prince of England. The name England isn't really used anymore. It is the UK (United Kingdom). Does he not know this?'

Following the backlash, the Daily Express launched a poll asking readers whether Prince Harry should call 'Prince of England' his occupation. Nearly 99% of respondents said no, while 0.74% said yes, and two respondents were unsure.

Harry Remains Silent

Prince Harry, who is now back home in Montecito, California, has not commented on the backlash. The podcast episode, which was filmed last week, continues to generate controversy.
