Penny Lancaster: 'We Lay It On Thick' in Rod Stewart Marriage

Penny Lancaster Opens Up on Decades-Long Romance with Sir Rod Stewart

Former model Penny Lancaster has shared intimate details about her enduring relationship with legendary singer Sir Rod Stewart, revealing that after more than a quarter of a century together, they still "lay it on thick" when it comes to romance.

A Relationship That Began Behind the Lens

The couple first crossed paths in 1999 when Lancaster was photographing Stewart during one of his tours. Now, twenty-five years later, Lancaster insists they remain in what she describes as their "honeymoon" phase, telling The Sun that their bond "gets better as time goes on."

Married since 2011, making her Stewart's third wife, Lancaster maintains that their union has grown "more spiritual and intimate" over the years. She elaborated on their romantic dynamic, saying, "Rod and I are very, very romantic. We like dressing up for each other - Rod takes great care with his appearance which I think is very sexy."

The Foundations of Their Lasting Connection

The 55-year-old Lancaster finds multiple qualities attractive in her 81-year-old husband, noting that he "doesn't have a lazy bone in his body" and values that the rock legend "doesn't take himself too seriously." Regarding the secret to their lasting romance, Lancaster reveals they enjoy spoiling each other, pointing to their most recent wedding anniversary celebration as a prime example.

According to reports in the Express, the couple retraced their original wedding journey, embarking on a train trip from Paris, France to Portofino, Italy. This mirrored their engagement and wedding sequence, where Stewart proposed in Paris before they exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony aboard a yacht in Portofino, followed by a reception at a monastery.

Keeping Romance Alive Through Shared Memories and Future Plans

Lancaster shares that they "love reminiscing" about their shared history while simultaneously planning future "romantic trips." She emphasized their approach to romance, stating, "We lay it on thick. The more romantic it is, the better. We have such a great connection on every level - there's such an energy between us."

The father-of-eight has previously spoken candidly about their affectionate displays, revealing they maintain an active intimate life and make a point of sharing a goodnight kiss whenever they're together. Stewart has also praised Lancaster, with whom he shares sons Alastair and Aiden, describing her as a "great mum" who "doesn't take any nonsense" from him.

Early Challenges and Ultimate Commitment

Lancaster has previously disclosed how she issued Stewart a significant ultimatum early in their relationship after photographs emerged of him with model Caprice Bourret following several dates. Lancaster recalls telling Stewart, "If you want to date all these women go ahead, but just so we're clear it's not for me."

After establishing further boundaries, Stewart responded, "Okay, lets give it go," but added the caveat, "But don't think that you're going to be the next Mrs Stewart. I don't want to get married and I don't want anymore babies."

However, Lancaster informed Stewart that "some point down the line" she would want to have a child together, which they achieved in 2011 with the birth of their first son, Alastair.

The Loose Women panellist is scheduled to appear on James Martin's Saturday Morning from 9.30am on ITV One, where she'll be joined by singer Alfie Boe and chefs Paul Rankin and Shivi Ramoutar.
