The second series of Channel 5 drama Ellis continues this week, with episodes three and four featuring a host of new guest stars. The show, which follows DCI Ellis and DS Harper as they solve crimes across northern England, returned on 10 March with Sharon D Clarke and Andrew Gower reprising their leading roles.
Joining the cast for the upcoming episodes are Game of Thrones star Mark Addy, Coronation Street actress Matilda Freeman, DCI Banks actor Stephen Tompkinson, and EastEnders star Sophie Stanton. Mark Addy is best known for playing Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones, as well as roles in Trollied, Atlantis, and The Full Monty. Matilda Freeman played Summer Spellman on Coronation Street from 2017 to 2020. Stephen Tompkinson is recognised for his performances in Wild at Heart, Drop the Dead Donkey, and DCI Banks. Sophie Stanton is famous for her role as DCI Jill Marsden in EastEnders.
The synopsis for the episode titled 'Elmsly' reads: 'The village of Elmsly is shaken when university student Abi Marshall is found crushed beneath fallen scaffolding at Quinn Artisan Stone - a construction firm and the area's economic powerhouse. Bright, ambitious and well-liked, her sudden death sends shockwaves through the community. Owner Elliot Quinn calls it a tragic accident, eager to shield his business from bad press, but Ellis isn't convinced. The camera that should have recorded the collapse was inexplicably offline and Abi's injuries don't match that of the fall, all suggesting the accident was staged.'
Other guest stars appearing in episodes three and four include Judy Flynn, known for The Brittas Empire; Caroline O'Neill, who played Andrea Clayton on Coronation Street; and Jack Bandeira, recognised for his role in Happy Valley. The second series of Ellis continues on Channel 5.
