In a candid new interview, actress Patsy Kensit has unveiled a previously undisclosed romantic relationship with the late Hollywood legend Terence Stamp, sharing intimate details about their time together and revealing his unexpected connection with her mother during her cancer battle.
A Star-Crossed Affair in the Early 1990s
Kensit, now 57, claims she fell for Stamp in the early 1990s when she was 23 and he was 53. The pair reportedly met at a London party before both appearing in the 1991 crime thriller Prince of Shadows, which was filmed in Madrid. According to Kensit, their love affair eventually ended when she secured another acting role that took them apart.
Recalling a 'Total Gentleman' and 'Amazing Lover'
Speaking to The Sun, Kensit described Stamp as "probably the most beautiful man I'd ever seen" and recalled their relationship fondly. "We were star-crossed lovers and he was a total gentleman," she revealed. "Even though there was an age gap, we had a strong bond. He was an amazing and generous lover."
Kensit emphasized that their romance extended beyond the physical, highlighting Stamp's romantic nature. "He used to write me these wonderful love letters about lucid dreams he had," she recounted. "His handwriting was like art. I've still got them in storage; I couldn't bear to part with them."
Stamp's Unexpected Connection with Kensit's Mother
Perhaps the most surprising revelation concerns Stamp's relationship with Kensit's mother, who was battling cancer at the time. Kensit explained that Stamp was "really ahead of the game with modern medicine and homoeopathy" and had been writing regularly to her mother.
"When she died, I discovered all these letters he had been writing to her," Kensit shared. "They were in regular correspondence, and he was encouraging her to take all these supplements and eat certain foods."
The End of a Whirlwind Romance
Stamp, who was Oscar-nominated for his role in the 1962 film Billy Budd, passed away in August 2025 at the age of 87. Though never married until age 64 when he wed shop worker Elizabeth O'Rourke in a marriage lasting from 2002 to 2008, he was known for high-profile relationships with stars like actress Julie Christie and supermodel Jean Shrimpton.
Kensit's revelation adds another chapter to Stamp's romantic history, coming as she reportedly plans her memoirs, suggesting more personal revelations may be forthcoming.
Kensit's Relationship History and Current Perspective
This disclosure comes after Kensit declared in 2024 that she had given up on finding a man following a series of failed marriages and engagements. Her announcement followed the end of her whirlwind engagement to property tycoon Patric Cassidy, which reportedly concluded after numerous arguments.
A String of High-Profile Marriages
Kensit's relationship history includes:
- Marriage to Dan Donovan in 1988, ending in 1991
- Marriage to Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr in 1992, with son James born in 1993, divorcing in 1996
- Her most famous marriage to Oasis star Liam Gallagher in 1997, with son Lennon born in 1999, divorcing in 2000 amid infidelity claims
- Marriage to DJ Jeremy Healy in 2009, ending just 10 months later
Embracing Singlehood and Self-Discovery
In 2024, Kensit told Hello! magazine: "I wouldn't want a relationship, I am not interested. I do believe in love. But for me, it's not something I need. I have been on my own a long time, and I like my own company. Now, it's just adjusting my life to fill the hole that's in my soul."
She also discussed the painful collapse of her skincare brand Preciously Perfect in 2021, which forced her to sell her home and "totally start again." Kensit dismissed reports of wealth from past marriages, stating: "I have always owned houses, but I had to sell my home and totally start again. It was brutal, particularly because I have worked so hard and then suddenly I was like: 'Who am I?'"
Focusing on Family Relationships
While Kensit revealed she doesn't speak to any of her ex-husbands, she emphasized supporting her sons' relationships with their fathers. "My goal has always been that my sons had a really good relationship with their fathers," she explained. "For me, I haven't spoken or had contact with those men. I am very supportive of their relationships with their fathers, but I don't have one. I like it that way."
Regarding Liam Gallagher's Oasis reunion tour, Kensit stated she wouldn't be attending but was pleased their son would have the opportunity to see his father perform. "My 24-year-old son, he'll be there, and he'll have a lovely time," she said. "Great for him to see all of that, and I'm happy for his dad. I think it's a wonderful thing. But I won't be attending."
