One Direction's planned Netflix documentary has reportedly been cancelled following an alleged physical altercation between former bandmates Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. Sources claim the incident, which occurred during filming, left Tomlinson requiring medical attention.
The documentary was set to feature a three-part road trip with the bandmates bonding over past experiences. However, tensions escalated when Malik allegedly made a comment that upset Tomlinson, leading to a physical confrontation. A source told The Sun: "Zayn punched him straight in the face. He was pulled away, and Louis was taken for medical treatment."
The alleged incident took place six months ago, and the duo have reportedly not spoken since. After the fallout, Tomlinson returned to the UK while Malik went back to his farm in Pennsylvania. The source added that it was "clear there was no way he would return to filming with Zayn."
Despite the reported rift, Tomlinson acknowledged Malik's role in conceiving the documentary idea in a recent interview with Billboard, saying: "It was his idea, actually. I'll give him credit for that brilliance." However, he avoided mentioning Malik when praising his other bandmates.
The band, formed on The X Factor in 2010, went on indefinite hiatus in 2016 after Malik's departure in 2015. The documentary was seen as a potential reunion project, but the alleged altercation has reportedly ended those plans.
