Nigel Farage has been mocked for a picture he posted following England's win against Croatia last night. The Reform UK leader shared an image on X, formerly Twitter, of himself in a pub wearing an England shirt and drinking a pint, with the caption: "Proper job. @England." However, social media users quickly pointed out that the photo was not from the recent match but from almost two years ago.
Photo from 2024, Not 2026
The image was taken at The Armfield Club in Blackpool during England's Euro 2024 match against Denmark on June 20, 2024. Users noted the same flags and people in the background, leading to widespread mockery. One user joked: "It's taken you two years to drink that pint, you f****** lightweight." Another said: "Farage celebrating the World Cup in 2030."
Reform UK's Response
A Reform UK spokesperson confirmed the photo was from 2024, explaining: "After a full day campaigning in Makerfield ahead of the by-election, Nigel watched the game nearby and celebrated England's first win."
England's Victory
England defeated Croatia 4-2 in their World Cup opener, with goals from Harry Kane (2), Jude Bellingham, and Marcus Rashford. The match took place at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called it a "fantastic result."
England's next matches are against Ghana on June 23 and Panama on June 27.
