Myleene Klass: 'I'm Not a Pushy Parent'

Myleene Klass, the former Hear'Say star turned television presenter, has spoken out about the criticism she faced after tweeting about a request for a Kindle as a birthday present for her daughter. The 38-year-old said she was not being pushy, but rather highlighting the excesses of modern parenting after returning from a charity trip to Nepal.

In an interview, Klass addressed the backlash, stating: 'Trust me, it would be way easier to go: Here's the 20 quid. But I had just landed from a trip to Nepal with Save the Children where, for 20p a day, you could buy the inoculations needed or feed a family. I just thought: No more, enough.'

The mother of two, who presents a new ITV documentary on single mothers, also discussed her mixed-race heritage. Growing up in Norfolk in the 1980s, she recalled being asked 'What are you?' rather than where she was from, and feeling fear when she had to tick 'other' on forms because there was no box for her ethnicity.

Klass, whose mother is Filipino and father Austrian, declined to comment on Brexit but said: 'All I can say from my own experience is that I'm the daughter of immigrants, and proud to be.'
