Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, 75, is seeking a long-term restraining order against a woman he claims has been stalking and harassing him and his family for three years. According to court documents, Buckingham has already been granted a temporary restraining order against the woman, identified as Michelle, 53.
Buckingham alleges that on November 3, police were sent to his home after a 911 call falsely claimed his son William, 26, wanted to harm himself and that gunshots were heard. The musician said he was handcuffed and forced to wait outside in the cold while police searched his house. After about 20 minutes, officers realised the call was 'fictitious' and released him. The number used to make the call was traced to Michelle's phone.
The incident followed a September 19 encounter when Michelle allegedly turned up at Buckingham's residence and was warned by police to stay away. Buckingham said the harassment began after Michelle obtained his wife Kristen Messner's phone number and called dozens of times a day. She allegedly claimed to be Buckingham's daughter and threatened to kill him and his family.
Buckingham denies being Michelle's father, stating: 'I do not know [Michelle] and I am not her father.' The temporary restraining order requires Michelle to stay 100 yards away from Buckingham, his wife, and their son. A hearing for a permanent order is scheduled for December 20.
