Meghan Markle has been savaged by fans who accused her of making a 'parody of herself' following the latest launch for her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The Duchess of Sussex unveiled a new collaboration on Tuesday, a matcha set with Clevr Blends that quickly sold out.
New Bundle Sparks Criticism
The bundle, priced at £47 ($56), includes a matcha mix from Clevr Blends alongside As Ever's strawberry spread and flower sprinkles. Clevr Blends is a vegan coffee brand known for its probiotic, superfood, and adaptogen-packed beverages. Meghan has been an adviser and investor in the company and appeared in a 2020 advertising campaign.
However, fans were unimpressed that the Duchess did not release a new product but instead bundled existing items, leading to accusations of inventory clearance. One user on X wrote: 'She's like a parody of herself.' Another added: 'Yulk! I don't want any of these things, and especially not together.'
A third commenter said: 'She seems to be throwing everything out there to get rid of the excess products she has accumulated.' Another user remarked: 'Is that it? Beyond embarrassing that she did business podcasts & interviews.'
A fifth critic noted: 'Yes, you were spot on! It's so obvious. When a brand has not yet established trust, proven product-market fit, or earned organic demand, collaborations and partnerships suggest it needs to borrow credibility and or move inventory.'
Meghan's Announcement
Announcing the collaboration on Instagram Stories, Meghan said: 'I've proudly supported Hannah and @clevrblends for so many years now. Thrilled about this new collaboration with one of my favourite gals and two of my favourite brands.'
Clevr Blends confirmed on Wednesday evening that the matcha set had sold out. The company was founded in 2018 by Hannah Mendoza and Roger Coppola.
